In January, Refuge Art School partnered with the City of Lowell and artist Skribbles to host an incredible night of art and community connection! This special event featured live painting by our talented RAS students and public community canvases where everyone was invited to contribute their creativity. It was truly a night to remember, full of energy, inspiration, and collaboration.
The live art portion of the event showcased our students in action as they brought their creative visions to life. Watching them work was not only inspiring but also a powerful reminder of how art can spark meaningful conversations and connections. Live art is an important way to celebrate artistic expression while encouraging dialogue between artists and the community. It allows people to see the process behind the artwork, creating an intimate and interactive experience that brings the artist’s vision closer to the audience.
Equally special were the community canvases, which transformed the event into a collective creative experience. People of all ages and skill levels came together to leave their marks, contributing their unique voices to a shared piece of art. Community canvases are so much more than collaborative projects—they’re symbols of unity, creativity, and inclusivity. They allow everyone to participate in the artistic process, fostering a sense of belonging and showing that art is for everyone.
We love to see art uniting our community, and this event was the perfect example of how creativity can bring people together. Thank you to the City of Lowell, artist Skribbles, and everyone who participated for making this night such a huge success. We’re already looking forward to more opportunities to collaborate, create, and connect through art!
