Description:
 
This course is designed to build confidence through the development of fundamental drawing and painting skills. During the first half of the semester, students will focus on the foundations of drawing, including observation, composition, line, value, perspective, and mark-making techniques. The second half of the semester will introduce the basics of painting, exploring color theory, brushwork, layering, and a variety of painting approaches. A special emphasis will be placed on developing a sketchbook practice that documents exercises, creative explorations, and technical studies completed throughout the course. Students will learn how to make intentional artistic choices while strengthening both their technical abilities and personal creative voice.
 
By the end of the semester, students will leave with a portfolio of finished works, and a stronger understanding of the creative process from concept to completion. This program is open to all students who love to create and those seeking guidance to grow artistically, regardless of experience level or portfolio requirements.
