Description:
This foundational course guides students in exploring the “why” behind their creative choices, with a focus on drawing, painting, and concept development. Through engaging prompts, students will combine technical skills with personal expression, learning to select materials and techniques that strengthen their artistic message.
Students will experiment with a variety of traditional and unconventional methods, building skills in observational drawing, theme-based work, and critique. This course provides essential experience in using both drawing and painting techniques as tools for conceptual exploration, helping each artist cultivate a personal point of view and prepare for advanced, independent work.
Due to the immersive nature of this course, class time will be packed with activity, and students should expect to use open studio hours or work at home to complete projects. This class is for serious, dedicated artists ready to commit to developing their practice and vision.
