Illustration 101 !CLASS FULL!
Illustrating Your World
Service Description
How would you illustrate your perfect world? Would it be soft and dreamy, or dramatic and moody? And what type of character would live in this illustrated world? Through this course, students will learn to answer these questions while learning the fundamentals of illustration and what makes good design. Illustration students will also be encouraged to use reference images through mood boards in order to construct original characters and backgrounds. This course is geared towards preteens and teens who are looking to expand their knowledge of design and nurture their own aesthetic preferences that will continue to evolve with them into a style. The end goal of this course will be for students to capture a mood or story in an illustration of their very own. Dates: Saturdays, 6/15, 6/22, 6/29, 7/20, 7/27 Time: 11-2pm Cost: $325 Requirements for class: -A sketchbook -A pinterest account (we will be using this to create mood boards) Optional, but recommended for student to practice outside of class -St. Petersburg White Nights 12 pan watercolor set (this is a wonderful introductory set, and is available on amazon; Winsor and Newton also has an introductory set in their Cotman line which is similar, whichever is easier for you to get) -Watercolor mixing surface (any porcelain surface such as a dinner plate work very well for mixing watercolors and allow for students to have many mixes without them running into each other) -Red or blue sketching pencils (Prismacolor makes colored sketching pencils called Col-erase which are probably easiest to come by; colored sketching pencils will not dull down the colors of watercolor mixtures when painting, unlike graphite pencils) We reserve the right to cancel any classes that don’t meet minimum student sign up.
