Service Description

Over the past 3 years, Refuge artists have created and executed murals and community projects around the city of Lowell. This summers projects will take on topics of elevating cultural identity in our community and safety for everyone who travels on foot. These messages will be translated into two community mural projects, both supported in part by the Lowell Cultural Council. Student created murals will ultimately be on permanent installation at at Mill 5 and Western Avenue. Students will work on large format material for Mural at the Refuge studio space. Instructors will guide students as they contribute imagery to a large scale mural design. We will explore the principles of transforming small, student created imagery into a large components that can be connected to other student work. and ultimately onto the desired work surface. As we create the mural, we will learn about other mural artists daily to help inform our imagery and choices. This project is designed for middle school & high school student artists Dates: 7/8-7/12 Time: 10-1pm Cost: $325 Requirements for class: -A sketchbook
