Heal & Prosper: Spring 2026 Art Show Reception

This June, Refuge Art School proudly celebrated the culmination of our Spring 2026 semester with an exhibition featuring work by more than 40 student artists. The show brought together an exciting range of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, film, and more, highlighting the creativity, growth, and dedication of our students throughout the semester.
While this year's exhibition centered around the theme of healing, students were encouraged to interpret that idea in their own way. The result was a diverse collection of artwork that explored personal growth, resilience, transformation, identity, memory, and connection. Each piece offered a unique perspective on what healing can look like, reminding us that the journey is different for everyone.
To invite visitors into the conversation, we created an interactive healing table where guests could write, draw, and reflect on what healing means to them directly on a paper-covered tablecloth. Alongside these reflections, visitors used letter beads to create bracelets featuring words of encouragement, hope, and personal meaning. Throughout the evening, community members also contributed to our ongoing community canvases, leaving behind colorful marks, messages, and drawings that became a collective expression of creativity and belonging.
One of the highlights of the evening was the debut of short films created by students in our film class. These powerful works captivated audiences and sparked meaningful conversations. Through themes of resurrection, migration, death, revenge, karma, and human nature, students explored how storytelling can serve as a tool for processing emotions, understanding ourselves, and finding healing through creative expression.
The reception was a celebration not only of finished artwork, but of the courage it takes to create, share, and reflect. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated and grateful to the families, friends, and community members who joined us in recognizing their accomplishments.
